Top 6 Instagram Spots in Lithuania
The dunes of the Curonian Spit, the Hill of Crosses, Trakai Castle on its lake island, Vilnius Old Town and Palanga bridge during sunset. These iconic spots in Lithuania provide perfect images for your posts. But if you are looking to generate more likes, why not set your sights on something more unique. Follow the recommendations of tourism information centers and the national tourism development agency Lithuania Travel and dive deeper into some of the treasures this instagrammable country has to offer.
1. Catcher in the hillforts
What does the small town of Sudargas in the south of Lithuania have in common with the great writer Jerome Salinger? The Catcher in the Rye author’s grandfather was born there, and now a statue dedicated to the writer is making its rock’n’roll presence felt amongst the town’s impressive hillforts. Be the first to take a photo on this newly minted spot.
2. Pink Elephant
Have you tried saltibarsciai, Lithuania’s traditional cold beet root soup? If so, you’ll be well acquainted with its bright pink color. And you can find exactly the same color sprayed across the wall in the second biggest Lithuanian town Kaunas. The city’s famous Pink Elephant is just about the most famous work of graffiti in the entire country. And as it’s dedicated to inspiring pink feelings and dreams, make sure you get in the right mood before posing in front of it.
3. Augustas & Barbora love story café
A fabulous little cafe full of charm and love. What a stunning café from both the outside street and inside as well, excellent pretty décor with good friendly staff and a lovely little menu. Food was amazing and the prices also very good, for me it just had to be champagne and impressed by the cost as not too expensive at all.
4. Stikliai Street
This street in the heart of Vilnius’ Old Town was recently a top trending location on local Instagram when a group of artists gave it some stellar swag during the city’s Culture Night event (constellations of small hot air balloons and colorful stars were hung above the street). And if you’re visiting, don’t forget to pop into the wonderfully decorated and sweetly named café, “Augustas & Barbora’s love story.” Here you can enjoy a sip of prosecco and one more photo shot.
5. Staircase of MO museum
In this island of modern art – the MO museum –a project by Daniel Libeskind, you’ll find that the art is not only hanging on the walls. The museum’s central staircase, constructed to resemble a DNA spiral, is the perfect spot for a photo op.
6. Hotel Pacai
Set in the heart of Vilnius Old Town - Hotel PACAI perfectly echoes this quarter’s 17th-century Baroque grandeur, while augmenting it with a contemporary twist. Famous for being the most magnificent mansion in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the stately building has been reborn thanks to the inspired efforts of a passionate team of local architects and designers.
